TramCité - Fact sheet

TramCité is an urban tramway project in Québec City. It stems from the recommendations of Phase 1 of the CITÉ Plan, our master mobility plan for the Communauté métropolitaine de Québec (CMQ).

The future backbone of local mobility, TramCité will make all travel more fluid by integrating efficiently with other modes of transportation.

Our role: 
CDPQ Infra acts as the primary contractor.

Current stage

At In the planning stage, TramCité teams have selected consortia for major contracts and are working to finalize the project detailed design. This will culminate in the submission of a final design to the Government of Québec in 2027, with a target price and timetable.

Meetings

Discussion and information process

CDPQ Infra has undertaken a discussion and information process with stakeholders—such as local organizations, businesses and institutions—as well as with people who live in or regularly visit the areas covered by the future network.


Governance

Project governance is shared as follows:

  • Project owner: The Government of Québec and the responsible departments
  • Primary contractor: CDPQ Infra
  • Partner and beneficiary: Ville de Québec and Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC)

Each partner’s roles and responsibilities were defined in the December 2024 master agreement, and then set out in more detail in the May 2025 interface management and collaboration agreement.
