
Julien Hurel
Vice-President, REM Project, CDPQ Infra
Julien Hurel has been Vice President, REM Project, since September 2023. In this role, he leads the team responsible for the development of the REM, represents the project with various partners, and oversees the execution of the network’s upcoming phases. He previously served as Senior Director, Transportation Systems, from 2020 to 2023.
In addition to his expertise in automated transit systems, he has extensive experience in managing and commissioning public transit projects around the world. He began his career working on a new metro line connecting Hong Kong Island to the region’s international airport, followed by several major projects including the Dubai Tram, Line 12 of the Mexico City Metro, and the Elizabeth Line of the London Underground. A resident of Canada since 2017, Julien Hurel oversaw Alstom’s Hurontario and Finch light rail projects in Toronto. He also contributed to the winning constortium’s proposal as part of the bidding process for the GO Transit expansion in the same city.
Julien Hurel holds an MBA from HEC Paris, a master’s degree in operations and manufacturing systems management from the University of Nottingham, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Coventry University in the United Kingdom.
